It was country study day again today, and today was Switzerland and the Netherlands. We learned that the Netherlands is the correct name and that it was called this because so much of the country was below sea level. The Dutch are very industrious people with the way that they reclaimed their country with the dikes and canals they have built.

We had Swiss chocolate and a Swiss dish called Raclette, which is basically boiled potatoes topped with Gruyere cheese. We also talked about Muesli, and how it was created by a doctor in Switzerland. But I didn't want to share my Muesli, so the girls just drooled over it. Basically, everyone liked the chocolate best. The girls weren't impressed with cheese, despite the price I paid for it!
Princess colored a picture of the Swiss flag and the Dutch flag, and small maps of each country. It was definitely not a red-letter day for geography, but still nice. We missed out on our video with the travel guy (someone had already checked out Switzerland at the library)!
